On August 1, 2016, at 11:56 a.m. Tom Green County Sheriff's Mental Health Unit received a call about a male subject who had left from River Crest Hospital on Hunters Glen Road in San Angelo, Texas, without permission. Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Arden Road and Mercedes Street where the subject was last seen.

The subject was identified as Josh Caleb Joiner. Joiner who fled the area on foot north towards the State Park came across a vehicle that was unoccupied. The vehicle was owned by a contract worker who was working inside the State Park at the time. Joiner drove the vehicle through dirt trails and through thick terrain before cashing in a ravine.

After a two hour manhunt, Joiner was located and taken into custody without incident. As a result Josh Caleb Joiner, 28 years of age, was charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle (State Jail Felony)

A State Jail Felony is punishable by 180 days to 2 years, and/or a fine punishable up to $10,000.00.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office was assisted by TG County Constable's Office and State Parks Rangers.
