Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle / Vehicle Burglary
The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is urging community members to LOCK, SECURE doors, windows, REMOVE all valuables, and REMOVE the keys on all unattended vehicles. Recently, numerous vehicle burglaries and thefts have been reported in the county and the City of San Angelo. The Highland Range, Buffalo Heights and Grape Creek communities in the county have been especially hit hard with numerous reported vehicle burglaries and thefts. Statistics show that more than 90 percent of all vehicle burglaries in Tom Green County involve a vehicle which was unsecured in some fashion. Sheriff Jones said "the community can help reduce our crime rate by just securing and locking your vehicles." Sheriff Jones is also asking our citizens to be vigilant in observing people and activities in their communities and if you see something, say something. Please report any suspicious activity or persons and we will respond to your call. We have resources devoted to finding the perpetrators committing these crimes and holding those responsible for the crimes accountable for their actions.
Anyone having information concerning these crimes or the persons responsible for the crimes, please contact the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division at 325-655-8111 or by email at tomgreencountysheriff.org using the crime tip button.
