TWO TRAFFIC STOPS LEAD TO SIGNIFICANT DRUG SEIZURES AND ARRE Item

Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies recently conducted two separate traffic stops that resulted in the seizure of illegal substances and the arrest of two individuals.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 87, just south of San Angelo. During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle, leading to the arrest of Joseph Ellis, 47, of Eden, Texas. Ellis was charged with:

Possession of Marijuana (2 oz - 4 oz)
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 2) > 400 grams (approximately 350 grams of THC)
March 15, 2025 - 3:29 AM
Deputies initiated another traffic stop on U.S. Highway 87, just south of Grape Creek. A subsequent search resulted in the arrest of Joseph Carey, 34, of San Antonio. Carey was charged with:

Possession of Marijuana (4 oz - 5 lbs)
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 2) > 400 grams
