TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FOOT PURSUIT AND ARREST OF FUGIVIE FOR WARRANTS AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
On April 11, 2024, at approximately 12:32 pm, a Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputy observed a vehicle driving northbound on Martin Luther King Drive without a registration sticker. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop near Barton Street and East 29th Street. During the stop, the passenger, identified as Cory Underhill (48 YOA), exited the vehicle, and evaded on foot.
A perimeter was set and during the search, Underhill was caught attempting to hide in a nearby residence and taken into custody with the assistance of the San Angelo Police Department.
Underhill had an active felony warrant out of Upton County for GOB*Evading Arrest with Vehicle and had a previous conviction for Evading Arrest on foot.
Deputies located clothing Underhill discarded during the foot pursuit in a shed near a residence. Near the clothing, Deputies located approximately 4.56 grams of Methamphetamine that Underhill later stated was his that he attempted to hide.
Underhill was booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Evading Arrest Detention with Previous Conviction - State Jail Felony, Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >=4 grams Upton County Warrant - GOB*Evading Arrest with Vehicle.
