TOM GREEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RELEASES STEP ENFORCEMENT STATS FOR JUNE
Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies continue to participate in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. The STEP Safe/Comp and STEP CMV are traffic safety programs hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation. The traffic safety grant enables the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office to place more deputies on the roadways in an attempt to improve traffic safety on the highways in Tom Green County.
In the month of June 2022, Deputies participating in the STEP program conducted 154 traffic stops. These traffic stops included 122 enforcement actions for speeding, one intersection violation, and fifty-nine other infractions not specifically identified. One subject was taken into custody for a DWI 2nd warrant, and a second subject was taken into custody for six miscellaneous misdemeanor warrants.
During the Commercial Motor Vehicle STEP Program, Deputies conducted thirty traffic stops. These traffic stops included twenty-four actions for speeding, thirty-three actions involving Commercial Motor Vehicles, and one other type infraction not specifically identified.
