SCAMMERS ARE AT IT AGAIN!

THE TOM GREEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF TWO MORE SCAMS.

1. The caller will state they are with the Tom Green County Jail.  They will advise that a loved one will be released if they pay a sum of money for an ankle monitor.  Sums are ranging from $2,000.00 to $9,000.00. 

           The Tom Green County Jail WILL NOT call family members for payment of any kind.  If you receive a call like this, please DO NOT give any information and certainly not payment.

 

2.  There is also a text scam.  It seems to be nationwide.  You will receive a text saying you owe an unpaid toll bill.

           If you receive a text like this please delete, DO NOT click on the link provided and do not send payment.  The toll companies will not send text messages to receive payment.
