MULTI-COUNTY AGGRAVATED ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER TOM GREEN COUNTY ROBBERY
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at approximately 6:50 a.m., the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office responded to the 16000 block of US Hwy 87 North, Allsup's in Water Valley, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery. Deputies arrived on the scene and met with the complainant, an employee of Allsup's, who said a black male had entered the store and began to purchase a food item, providing them with a $5 bill to pay for the item. Once the cash draw was open, the suspect displayed a firearm and demanded the cash from the drawer. The suspect fled the scene in a gray passenger vehicle with less than $75 cash. Evidence was found and collected on the scene that would tend to lead to an identification of the suspect, however, it required additional lab processing. Based on security camera footage, an investigation ensued.
During the investigation, it was learned that an Allsup's in Las Vegas, New Mexico had also been robbed at gunpoint on November 18, 2024. With the assistance of the Sterling County Sheriff's Office, the video was obtained from Allsup's that confirmed both stores were robbed by the same suspect. Video evidence in New Mexico also provided that the suspect was driving a stolen vehicle from El Paso, Texas. The El Paso Police Department had been previously working the Unauthorized Use of Vehicle (UUMV) and was able to identify the suspect of the UUMV as one Emmanuel Oyetunde, 24 yoa, from El Paso, Texas. El Paso Police Department placed an Attempt to Locate Alert for the stolen vehicle. On November 19, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Junction Police Department located the stolen vehicle, which was occupied and being operated in the city of Junction, Texas. Junction Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, Emmanuel Oyetunde for the arrest warrant out of El Paso. Oyetunde was found to be wearing the same clothing as was observed in both robberies' security footage, as well as he was in possession of a firearm, which was later determined to be stolen out of El Paso, Texas. The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office learned of the Oyetunde's arrest on the afternoon of November 19. With the totality of evidence and information, probable cause was developed and an arrest warrant for Oyetunde for the Agg Robbery that occurred in Water Valley was obtained. On November 20, 2024, Investigators with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office traveled to Junction, Texas, and met with the Kimble County Sheriff's Office and Junction Police Department. A custodial interview of Oyetunde was conducted and items of evidence were released to this agency.
Currently, Oyetunde is in the custody of the Kimble County Jail and has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle from El Paso County and Aggravated Robbery from Tom Green County. El Paso County and New Mexico State Police still have active criminal investigations, and more charges may be forthcoming.
The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Sterling County Sheriff's Office, Kimble County Sheriff's Office, Junction Police Department, El Paso Police Department, and Las Vegas (New Mexico) Police Department for their assistance during this investigation.
