HIGH SPEED PURSUIT QUELLED BY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

At 11:57 AM this morning, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Sterling County Sheriff's Office of a high-speed pursuit entering the county on US87 at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.  Deputies responded and established a location north of Carlsbad where spikes were successfully deployed, deflating three tires on the suspect vehicle.    After the tires were deflated, the suspect vehicle slowed and came to a stop in Carlsbad.    

The driver, Jose Guajardo, 34 YOA, of Roswell, New Mexico was taken into custody without incident.   Guajardo was transported to the Tom Green County Detention Center for Evading Arrest and Detention and Driving While Intoxicated.  Guajardo was also found to have misdemeanor warrants out of Dickson County, Tennessee, and El Paso County, Texas.    

Guajardo remains in the Tom Green County Detention Center pending bond and final disposition of the out of county warrants.
