ALERT - SCAMMERS STILL TRYING

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office has received information of citizens receiving calls or voicemails from an individual claiming to be from the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office needing to speak to them. Citizens that returned the call were informed they owe thousands of dollars in jury fees.

Scammers use many tactics to sound and appear credible. They sometimes provide information like badge numbers, or names of actual law enforcement officials. They may also spoof their phone numbers to appear on caller IDs as if they are calling from a government agency.

The Sheriff's Office WILL NOT SOLICIT funds or payment over the phone.  

If you should receive one of these calls, please hang up on the caller and block their number. DO NOT give any personal information over the phone.
