Aggravated Kidnapping
On July 19, 2016 Tom Green County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the 9700 block of Burma Road for a report of a terroristic threat. Before arrival deputies were contacted by San Angelo Police Department and learned the victim called 9-1-1 after escaping from the suspects. The victim stated he had been kidnapped from a residence off of Burma Road and driven to San Angelo by the suspects, Sherrod M. Wilder and Taryn Makia Espinosa.
Tom Green County Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation along with the San Angelo Police Department. Investigators learned that the victim had been taken at gun point by the suspects who drove the victim to San Angelo in an attempt to have the victim get money from an ATM machine. San Angelo Police Department Officers located the suspects at Rio Concho and Bell Street where they were detained. Taryn Espinosa was arrested on an outstanding warrant from McCulloch County and for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance greater than 4 grams and less than 200 grams which she had in her possession. A pistol was also recovered from Espinosa's purse that matched the description of the pistol used in the Aggravated Kidnapping.
As a result of the investigation the following persons were charged:
Sherrod Malik Wilder, 19 years of age, Aggravated Kidnapping ( 1st Degree Felony)
Taryn Makia Espinosa, 18 years of age, Aggravated Kidnapping and Man Del CS PG1>=4G ( 1st Degree Felony)
A First Degree Felony is punishable by five (5) to ninety-ninety (99) years, and/or a fine punishable up to $10,000.00.
The Tom Green County Criminal Investigation Division along with San Angelo Police Department are continuing a joint investigation into the circumstances which lead to this incident and arrests.
